Treatment of Cough

In Treatment of Cough Cadiphylate Elixir gives relief from cough by loosening thick mucus and making it easier to cough it out. It also makes it easier for air to move in and out of your airways. This reduces the frequency of coughing. This medicine usually starts to work within a few minutes and the effects can last up to several hours. Take it in the exact dose and duration as prescribed by the doctor. Along with medications, drink enough lukewarm water and gargle with warm salt water to ease the symptoms.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you're worried about them. ['Nausea, Vomiting, Upset stomach, Restlessness, Increased heart rate, Insomnia (difficulty in sleeping)']

Cadiphylate Elixir is a combination of three medicines: Piperazine, Ephedrine and Guaifenesin. Piperazine is a bronchodilator which works by relaxing the muscles in the airways and widens the airways. Ephedrine is a sympathomimetic agonist which works on the blood vessels and increases the blood flow to heart and lungs. Guaifenesin is an expectorant which works by decreasing the stickiness of mucus (phlegm) and helps in its removal from the airways.

Pregnancy

Breast feeding

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - Cadiphylate Elixir is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Driving

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - It is not known whether Cadiphylate Elixir alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.

Kidney

CAUTION - Cadiphylate Elixir should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Cadiphylate Elixir may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Limited information is available on the use of Cadiphylate Elixir in these patients.

Liver

If you miss a dose of Cadiphylate Elixir, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
