Treatment of Localized muscle spasm

In Treatment of Localized muscle spasm Dysport 500IU Injection is used in adults to treat muscle spasms around the eyes, in the face, neck, arm, shoulders, and leg. It is also used in children with cerebral palsy (aged two years or older), to treat muscle spasms in the legs, to improve their walking. It also effectively relieves muscle spasms in the arms of the affected children. It stops the abnormal muscle contractions called spasms by stopping the release of a chemical which acts between the nerves and muscles that causes muscle contraction. This helps to reduce the spasms and provides relief. In this way, it improves the quality of life. It is given as an injection by a doctor or nurse and should not be self-administered.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you're worried about them. ['Weakness, Flu-like symptoms, Injection site reactions (pain, swelling, redness)']

Dysport 500IU Injection is a protein made by a type of bacteria (Clostridium botulinum type A). It works by blocking the release of a chemical (acetylcholine) which normally cause the muscle to contract. This temporarily weakens nerve activity in the muscles and helps reduce abnormal muscle contractions.

Pregnancy

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Dysport 500IU Injection is safe to use during pregnancy. Most studies have shown low or no risk to the developing baby.

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Dysport 500IU Injection is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.

Driving

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - It is not known whether Dysport 500IU Injection alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.

Kidney
