It may also be given with other medicines for bacterial infections. It helps clear up the infection by stopping the bacteria and other organisms from multiplying and growing. Additionally, this medicine is a specific antibiotic that does not affect the good bacteria of the gut and there is no risk of serious gastrointestinal infection (superinfection) on prolonged use.
