Gercodryl Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat cough. It thins the mucus in the nose and windpipe, making it easier to cough out. This medicine also relieves allergic symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, throat irritation.Gercodryl Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you discontinue treatment prematurely, there is a risk of symptom recurrence and worsening of your condition. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.The most common side effects are stomach pain, allergic reaction, thickened respiratory tract secretions, and coordination impaired. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. This medicine can also cause sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can make sleepiness worse.Never support self-medication or recommend your medicine to another person. It is beneficial to have plenty of fluids while taking this medication. Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. You should tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you.

In Cough : Gercodryl Syrup gives relief from cough by loosening thick mucus and making it easier to cough it out. It also makes it easier for air to move in and out of your airways. This reduces the frequency of coughing and makes you feel better. Gercodryl Syrup also relieves allergy symptoms like watery eyes, sneezing, runny nose or throat irritation. Along with medications, drink enough lukewarm water and gargle with warm salt water to ease the symptoms.
Side effects of Gercodryl Syrup The majority of side effects typically do not necessitate medical intervention. and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. How to use Gercodryl Syrup Follow your doctor's guidance regarding the dose and duration of this medication. Check the label for directions before use. How Gercodryl Syrup works Gercodryl Syrup is a combination of four medicines: Ammonium Chloride, Sodium Citrate, Diphenhydramine and Menthol which relieve cough.
Alcohol
Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Gercodryl Syrup as it is deemed unsafe.
Pregnancy
Gercodryl Syrup is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy. Seek your doctor's advice as studies on pregnant women and animals have shown significant harmful effects to the developing baby.
Breast feeding
Information regarding the use of Gercodryl Syrup during breastfeeding is not available. Doctor consultation is advised.
Driving
Gercodryl Syrup may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
Gercodryl Syrup is probably unsafe to use in patients with kidney disease and should be avoided. Doctor consultation is advised.
Liver
Gercodryl Syrup is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Gercodryl Syrup may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
If a dose of Gercodryl Syrup is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.
Store in a cool and dry place, and keep the temperature below 30�C
Gercodryl Syrup is prescribed to get relief from cough. Drink warm water to help loosen the congestion and lubricate your throat while you are taking this medication. Take exactly as directed by your doctor or on the label. Do not increase the dosage or take for longer than is recommended. Use a proper measuring cup or spoon to measure the dosage. In general, most coughs do not last more than 2 weeks. If your cough does last longer than this then, it's better to see your doctor. Inform your docotor if you have or have ever had a breathing problem such as asthma, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis.
