Dry cough

In Dry cough A dry cough is a cough where no phlegm or mucus is produced. It may cause a tickling sensation or itching in the throat and may be due to cold, flu, allergies or throat irritants. Kocil Syrup suppresses severe dry cough and gives you relief from an itchy throat. Apart from this, it also reduces symptoms of allergy like watery eyes, sneezing and runny nose. Along with taking Kocil Syrup, gargling with warm salt water and having ginger or honey can help you manage dry cough.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you're worried about them. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Kocil Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Kocil Syrup is a combination of four medicines: guaifenesin, chlorpheniramine, dextromethorphan and phenylpropanolamine which relieve cough. Guaifenesin is an expectorants which decreases the stickiness of mucus (phlegm) and helps in its removal from the airways. Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that relieves cough by reducing the activity of cough centre in the brain. Phenylpropanolamine is a decongestant which narrows the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.

Alcohol

Pregnancy

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - Kocil Syrup may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Breast feeding

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - Information regarding the use of Kocil Syrup during breastfeeding is not available. Please consult your doctor.

Driving

UNSAFE - Kocil Syrup may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.

Kidney

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Kocil Syrup is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Kocil Syrup may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Liver

UNSAFE - Kocil Syrup is probably unsafe to use in patients with liver disease and should be avoided. Please consult your doctor.

If you miss a dose of Kocil Syrup, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
