Bacterial skin infections

In Bacterial skin infections Septiace Ointment is used to treat and prevent various skin infections caused by bacteria. It kills and stops the growth of the bacteria causing infection. It may also be used to heal minor cuts, burns, abrasions, ulcers and blisters. Apply exactly as directed by your doctor. Make sure you complete the full course of treatment to ensure that the infection is completely cured and prevent it from returning.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you're worried about them. ['Application site reactions (burning, irritation, itching and redness)']

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment.

Septiace Ointment is a combination of three medicines: Povidone Iodine, Tinidazole and Sucralfate. Povidone Iodine is an antiseptic. It slowly releases iodine which kills or prevents the growth of infectious microorganisms. Tinidazole is an antibiotic. It kills the bacteria and other microorganisms that cause infections by damaging their DNA. Sucralfate is protectant which covers the damaged tissue and protects it against injury to facilitate healing.

Pregnancy

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - Septiace Ointment may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Breast feeding

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Septiace Ointment is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

If you miss a dose of Septiace Ointment, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
