Treatment of Parasitic infections

In Treatment of Parasitic infections Sprot Plus 100 mg/125 mg/50 mg Suspension is given to treat parasitic infections such as diarrhea, amoebic dysentery, amoebic liver abscess, and giardiasis. It works by stopping the growth of parasites and also helps in clearing parasite cysts (carrier state). It is most likely that your child?s infection will start showing improvement within 3 to 5 days of the regular dosing. Make sure to complete the full course of treatment even if your child feels better. Stopping the medicine abruptly by yourself may worsen your child?s condition or cause infection recurrence.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you're worried about them. Sprot Plus 100 mg/125 mg/50 mg Suspension is a combination of three medicines: Metronidazole, diloxanide, and simethicone. Metronidazole is an antibiotic that kills bacteria and other infectious microorganisms by damaging the DNA. Diloxanide is combined with metronidazole in case of severe intestinal infections. Diloxanide is a luminal amoebicide that acts inside the intestines to kill the infection-causing microorganisms (amoeba). Simethicone is an antifoaming medicine that disintegrates gas bubbles and allows easy passage of gas.

Kidney

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Sprot Plus 100 mg/125 mg/50 mg Suspension is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Sprot Plus 100 mg/125 mg/50 mg Suspension is recommended. However, dose modification may be required in children with severe kidney disease. Consult your child€™s doctor before giving this medicine to your child.

Liver

CAUTION - Sprot Plus 100 mg/125 mg/50 mg Suspension should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Sprot Plus 100 mg/125 mg/50 mg Suspension may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
