Parkinson's disease

In Parkinson's disease Syncapone 100 Tablet is a medicine that helps relieve symptoms of Parkinson's disease such as tremors, muscle stiffness and difficulty moving. It increases the amount of a chemical called dopamine in the brain which helps in coordination of body movements. This medicine can therefore enhance the quality of life by improving the ability to carry out daily functions in a better manner.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you're worried about them. ['Headache, Dryness in mouth, Insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), Anxiety, Dizziness, Abnormal dreams, Involuntary muscle movement, Gastrointestinal disturbance']

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Syncapone 100 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time. Avoid Syncapone 100 Tablet with high protein meals such as cottage cheese, Swiss cheese, protein powder, eggs and milk.

Syncapone 100 Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Levodopa, Carbidopa and Entacapone which treat Parkinsonism. Levodopa is a Carbidopa precursor which gets converted to dopamine, a chemical messenger that controls movement in the brain. Carbidopa is a peripheral decarboxylase inhibitor which prevents the breakdown of Levodopa allowing it to enter the brain and increase dopamine levels. Entacapone is COMT inhibitor which causes higher and more sustained levels of levodopa in blood, leading to greater relief from the symptoms of Parkinson?s disease.

Alcohol

UNSAFE - It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Syncapone 100 Tablet.

Pregnancy

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - Syncapone 100 Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Breast feeding

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - Syncapone 100 Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Driving

UNSAFE - Syncapone 100 Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery.

Kidney

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Syncapone 100 Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Syncapone 100 Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Liver

CAUTION - Syncapone 100 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Syncapone 100 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

If you miss a dose of Syncapone 100 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
