How it works
Tecpime Injection is a combination of two medicines: Cefepime and Sulbactam. Cefepime is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which blocks the action of enzymes produced by bacteria to inactivate cefepime. Addition of Sulbactam reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefepime against bacteria.
Alcohol
UNSAFE - Tecpime Injection may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Pregnancy
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Tecpime Injection is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Breast feeding
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Tecpime Injection is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.
Driving
UNSAFE - Tecpime Injection may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
CAUTION - Tecpime Injection should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Tecpime Injection may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Tecpime Injection is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Tecpime Injection may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
