In Hypertension (high blood pressure) Tozaar-AT Tablet relaxes the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily around your body. It also blocks the effects of some chemicals on your heart and blood vessels. This slows down your heart rate and helps the heart beat with less force. As a result, your blood pressure is lowered and this helps in reducing your risk of having a stroke, a heart attack, other heart problems, or kidney problems in the future. This medicine needs to be taken regularly to be effective, so keep taking it even if you feel well. Do not stop without talking to your doctor.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you're worried about them.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Tozaar-AT Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Tozaar-AT Tablet is a combination of two blood-pressure lowering medicines: Atenolol and Losartan. Atenolol is a beta blocker which works specifically on the heart to reduce heart rate and lower blood pressure. Losartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels. Together they allow the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.
UNSAFE - It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Tozaar-AT Tablet.
CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - Tozaar-AT Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.
CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - Tozaar-AT Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
UNSAFE - Tozaar-AT Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
CAUTION - Tozaar-AT Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Tozaar-AT Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended and can help in better dose adjustment.
CAUTION - Tozaar-AT Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Tozaar-AT Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Tozaar-AT Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
If you miss a dose of Tozaar-AT Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
