Dry cough

In Dry cough A dry cough is a cough where no phlegm or mucus is produced. It may cause a tickling sensation or itching in the throat and may be due to cold, flu, allergies or throat irritants. XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet suppresses severe dry cough and gives you relief from an itchy throat. Apart from this, it also reduces symptoms of allergy like watery eyes, sneezing and runny nose. Along with taking XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet, gargling with warm salt water and having ginger or honey can help you manage dry cough.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you're worried about them. ['Vomiting, Constipation, Sleepiness, Lightheadedness, Dizziness, Breathlessness, Sweating']

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Chlorpheniramine Maleate and Codeine, which relieves dry cough. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antiallergic. It blocks the action of a chemical messenger (histamine) which may trigger cough due to allergy. Codeine is a cough suppressant. It suppresses cough by reducing the activity of cough center in the brain.

Alcohol

UNSAFE - XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.

Pregnancy

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Breast feeding

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. Larger doses or prolonged use of XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet may cause sleepiness and other effects in the baby

Driving

UNSAFE - XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive. As XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet may cause dizziness, blurred vision or the inability to think clearly.

Kidney

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor. Use of XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet may cause excessive sleepiness in patients with end stage kidney disease.

Liver

CAUTION - XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

If you miss a dose of XL 80 4 mg/10 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
