Epilepsy/Seizures

In Epilepsy/Seizures Zefretol 400 Tablet is an anticonvulsant (or anti-epileptic) medicine that works by decreasing the nerve impulses which cause the seizures. By controlling the frequency of seizures, it will help you go about your daily activities with more confidence. It helps reduce symptoms such as confusion, uncontrollable jerking movements, loss of awareness, and fear or anxiety. This medicine is not associated with any physical or psychological dependence (addiction) but it should not be stopped suddenly. It must be taken regularly as prescribed to be effective. Missing doses may trigger a seizure.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you're worried about them. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Zefretol 400 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Zefretol 400 Tablet is an anti epileptic medication. It works by blocking the voltage gated sodium channels that stabilizes the hyperexcited nerve cells in the brain. In this way, it treats seizures or fits.

Alcohol

Pregnancy

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - Zefretol 400 Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Breast feeding

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Zefretol 400 Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. Zefretol 400 Tablet should be used for short periods and sleepiness of the baby should be watched.

Driving

UNSAFE - Zefretol 400 Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

CAUTION - Zefretol 400 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Zefretol 400 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Zefretol 400 Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.

Liver

CAUTION - Zefretol 400 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Zefretol 400 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Zefretol 400 Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

If you miss a dose of Zefretol 400 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
