Azilsartan medoxomil is used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), the prevention of heart attack and stroke, and heart failure.

How Azilsartan medoxomil works Azilsartan medoxomil is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It relaxes blood vessels by blocking the action of a chemical that typically causes blood vessels to constrict. This lowers blood pressure, allowing blood to flow more smoothly to various organs and enabling the heart to pump more efficiently.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Azilsartan medoxomil include dizziness, diarrhea, and increased creatine phosphokinase (CPK) levels in the blood.

  • Take it at the same time every day to help you remember to take it.
  • It may cause dizziness during the initial days of treatment.
  • Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down for an extended period.
  • Your doctor may conduct regular tests to monitor the levels of urea, creatinine, and potassium in your blood.
  • Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen, alongside this medicine without consulting your doctor.
