How Bempedoic Acid and Rosuvastatin Work Bempedoic acid and rosuvastatin is a combination of two medications. Bempedoic acid inhibits an enzyme known as adenosine triphosphate-citrate lyase (ACL), blocking cholesterol production in the liver. Rosuvastatin inhibits an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase, which slows cholesterol production in the body, reducing the amount of cholesterol that can accumulate on the walls of the arteries and obstruct blood flow to the heart, brain, and other parts of the body.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Bempedoic acid and Rosuvastatin include headache, muscle pain, abdominal pain, weakness, nausea, upper respiratory tract infection, muscle spasm, increased uric acid levels in the blood, back pain, bronchitis (inflammation of the airways), pain in extremities, anemia (low number of red blood cells), and increased liver enzymes.
