Gentamicin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required for vital bacterial functions. Clotrimazole is an antifungal that inhibits the growth of fungi by preventing them from forming their protective covering. Betamethasone is a steroid medicine that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) responsible for making the skin red, swollen, and itchy. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that blocks pain signals from the nerves to the brain, thereby decreasing pain sensation.

Common side effects of Gentamicin, Clotrimazole, Betamethasone, and Lidocaine include application site reactions such as burning, irritation, itching, and redness.
