How Cetyl Alcohol and Stearyl Alcohol Work Cetyl Alcohol and Stearyl Alcohol contain two key ingredients. Cetyl alcohol helps prevent water loss from the outer layer of the skin, relieving dryness and leaving the skin soft and hydrated. Stearyl alcohol forms a protective layer over the skin, further preventing water loss from the surface.
