Desmopressin is used in the treatment of bleeding esophageal varices, diabetes insipidus, and bed-wetting.
How it Works
How Desmopressin works Desmopressin is a synthetic form of vasopressin, a natural hormone that regulates water balance. It functions by promoting the reabsorption of water in the kidneys, thereby controlling excessive thirst and urination in diabetes insipidus. Additionally, it helps reduce nighttime urine production and bedwetting in children. Furthermore, Desmopressin decreases bleeding episodes by promoting the release of blood clotting factors.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Desmopressin include xerostomia.
