Emicizumab is used in the treatment of hemophilia A.

How it Works

How Emicizumab works In individuals with hemophilia A who have low or absent factor VIII, the blood coagulation process cannot proceed normally. Emicizumab functions as a bridge, connecting factor IXa and factor X to enable the blood coagulation process to continue without the need to replace factor VIII.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Emicizumab include injection site reactions (pain, swelling, redness), joint pain, and headache.

Emicizumab is a prescription medicine used for preventing bleeding episodes in adults and children, ages newborn and older, with hemophilia A.
Before using Emicizumab, inform your doctor about all of your medical conditions, including:

If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
If you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed

Emicizumab increases the potential for your blood to clot.
You must inform your doctor before taking any other medications.
Your body may produce antibodies against Emicizumab, which could prevent it from working effectively.
Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you notice that Emicizumab has stopped working (e.g., an increase in bleeding episodes).
