How Fluticasone Furoate and Oxymetazoline Work Fluticasone Furoate and Oxymetazoline is a combination of two medications. Fluticasone furoate inhibits an enzyme (cytosolic phospholipase A2) that triggers a series of reactions involved in the production of inflammatory mediators, such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Dilated blood vessels can lead to nasal congestion. Oxymetazoline is a decongestant that constricts blood vessels in the nasal passages.
