Fosaprepitant is used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy.

How it Works

How Fosaprepitant works Fosaprepitant is an antiemetic medication. It works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger, neurokinin, in the brain that can cause nausea and vomiting during anti-cancer treatment, such as chemotherapy.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Fosaprepitant include headache, hiccup, fatigue, decreased appetite, constipation, dizziness, weakness, nausea, abdominal pain, itching, diarrhea, flatulence, general discomfort, sleepiness, peripheral neuropathy (tingling and numbness in the feet and hands), anxiety, palpitations, hot flushes, gastroesophageal reflux disease, dryness of the mouth, burping, dyspepsia, increased alanine aminotransferase, increased aspartate aminotransferase, increased alkaline phosphatase levels in the blood, urinary tract infection, discomfort during urination, decreased white blood cell count (neutrophils), anemia (low number of red blood cells), decreased white blood cell count (lymphocytes), limb pain, acne, urticaria, injection site reactions (pain, swelling, redness), hypersensitivity, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and toxic epidermal necrolysis.
