Common side effects of hydroquinone include erythema (skin redness), dryness and fissuring of the paranasal and infraorbital areas, and a stinging sensation.

- Hydroquinone assists in lightening hyperpigmented skin.
- It should always be used in conjunction with sun-avoidance measures, such as:
- Using sunscreens that provide UV-A and UV-B protection.
- Wearing protective clothing.
- Apply a thin film to the affected area or lesion.
- Avoid contact with eyes or mouth; if contact occurs, rinse with water immediately.
- Apply as per the dosage and duration advised by your doctor, with regular follow-up.
- Before full application, test a very small amount of cream to check for allergic reactions.
- Continue treatment if no allergic reaction occurs within 24 hours.
- Do not apply to broken or infected areas of skin.
- Discontinue use if you experience irritation or an allergic reaction, and consult your doctor.
