How Ondansetron works Ondansetron is an antiemetic medication that works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger, serotonin, in the brain. This action helps prevent nausea and vomiting during anti-cancer treatment, such as chemotherapy, or after surgery.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Ondansetron include constipation, headache, flushing (a sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck, and trunk), and injection site reactions (pain, swelling, redness).
