Verapamil is used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), angina (heart-related chest pain), and arrhythmia.

How it Works

How Verapamil works Verapamil is a calcium channel blocker. It inhibits the action of calcium on the heart and blood vessels, resulting in the dilation of blood vessels and allowing more blood and oxygen to reach the heart. This reduces blood pressure and lowers the likelihood of angina (chest pain).

Side Effects

Common side effects of Verapamil include constipation, dizziness, nausea, edema (swelling), heart failure, and pulmonary edema.
