In Bacterial infections Gefemax 500 mg/62.5 mg Injection contains two different medicines, Cefepime and Tazobactum, that work together to kill the bacteria that cause infections. Cefipime works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Tazobactum reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefipime against bacteria. Gefemax 500 mg/62.5 mg Injection can be used to treat many different bacterial infections. This medicine usually makes you feel better within a few days, but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

The majority of side effects typically do not necessitate medical intervention. and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Gefemax 500 mg/62.5 mg Injection is a combination of two medicines: Cefepime and Tazobactum. Cefepime is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Tazobactum is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which blocks the action of enzymes produced by bacteria to inactivate cefepime. Addition of Tazobactum reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefepime against bacteria.

Alcohol

Caution: It is important to consult your doctor regarding alcohol consumption while taking Gefemax 500 mg/62.5 mg Injection .

Pregnancy

Safe when prescribed by an expert: Gefemax 500 mg/62.5 mg Injection is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Breast feeding

Safe when prescribed by an expert: Gefemax 500 mg/62.5 mg Injection is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.

Driving

Not Safe: Gefemax 500 mg/62.5 mg Injection may cause blurring of your vision for a short time just after its use. Do not drive until your vision is clear.

Kidney

Caution Advised: Gefemax 500 mg/62.5 mg Injection should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Gefemax 500 mg/62.5 mg Injection may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.

Liver

Safe when prescribed by an expert: Gefemax 500 mg/62.5 mg Injection is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Gefemax 500 mg/62.5 mg Injection may not be needed in these patients. Doctor consultation is advised.
