Treatment of Gout

In Treatment of Gout Gout is a form of arthritis caused by excess uric acid in the bloodstream. Gout causes attacks of painful inflammation in one or more of your affected joints. Goutnil 0.5mg Tablet contains colchicine that reduces the inflammation, swelling and pain of the gout attack. This medicine is very effective in people who cannot take other anti-inflammatory painkillers and also for those who are taking other medicines for treatment and prevention of gout. Take Goutnil 0.5mg Tablet as prescribed and avoid skipping doses. Make appropriate lifestyle changes like losing weight (if you are overweight), eating a healthy diet and avoiding alcohol or sugar-sweetened drinks to get maximum benefit.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you're worried about them. ['Vomiting, Abdominal pain, Diarrhea']

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Goutnil 0.5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Alcohol

CAUTION - Caution is advised when consuming alcohol with Goutnil 0.5mg Tablet. Please consult your doctor.

Pregnancy

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - Goutnil 0.5mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Breast feeding

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Goutnil 0.5mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Driving

UNSAFE - Goutnil 0.5mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

CAUTION - Goutnil 0.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Goutnil 0.5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Goutnil 0.5mg Tablet should preferably be avoided if you have serious kidney disease.

Liver

CAUTION - Goutnil 0.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Goutnil 0.5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. However, close monitoring is recommended for patients with mild to moderate liver disease also but dose adjustment is not necessary.

If you miss a dose of Goutnil 0.5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
