How it works
Progaba Plus Gel is a combination of three medicines: Gabapentin, Lidocaine, and Baclofen. Gabapentin is an alpha 2 delta ligand which decreases pain by modulating calcium channel activity of the nerve cells. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic which works by blocking pain signals from the nerves to brain thereby decreasing the sensation of pain. Baclofen is a muscle relaxant. It works on the centres in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm without reduction in strength. This improves pain and movement of muscles. Together, they relieve neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves).
Pregnancy
CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - Progaba Plus Gel may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Breast feeding
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Progaba Plus Gel is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
What If You Forget to take Progaba Plus Gel?
If you miss a dose of Progaba Plus Gel, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
